Fan shroud and belt can be the cause of overheating in Mercedes 190 E. It’s always best to make sure they’re all in good shape and working, if not, just replace them, they’re not too expensive.
SLIDE THE SHROUD UPWARD and WATCH FOR THE FAN BLADES
Identify tensioner roller and bolt (17mm)
Loosen the 17mm bolt 1/4-1/2 turn counterclockwise using breaker bar
Loosen the tenstioner 13mm bolt until the belt is loose enough to be removed.
Remove the belt from the tenstioner roller
MAKE SURE YOU REMEMBER THE WAY THE BELT WAS INSTALLED TO PUT THE NEW BELT BACK CORRECTLY!!!!!
INSTALL THE ROLLER TENSTIONER PART LAST, IT’S EASIER and MAKE SURE THE RIBS ARE FITTED CORRECTLY ON PULLEYS
TIGHTEN THE 13mm TENSIONER BOLT UNTIL THE MARK IS TO THE RIGHT and THE BELT IS SNUG TIGHT, THEN TIGHTEN THE 17mm BOLT
TO SECURE THE TENSIONER, START THE CAR and RUN FOR A FEW MINUTES THEN
CHECK THE BELT TENSION, TIGHTEN IF NECESSARY (MAKE SURE THE 17mm IS LOOSEN EVERY TIME YOU WANT TO ADJUST THE TENSION and TIGHTEN IT AFTER EVERYTHING IS DONE!!!
SLIDE THE NEW SHROUD BACK IN FROM THE TOP AND WATCH FOR THE FAN BLADES.
NEW BELT AND SHROUD WILL HELP THE ENGINE RUNS COOLER IN THE HOT DAYS
SINCE THE FAN DOESN’T BLOW HOT AIR THROUGH THE ENGINE AND RADIATOR.
