Oil Change On A8L D5 55 3.0L At 50k Miles

One of the reasons that all my Audis last long because I do change oil very regularly, although I don’t take the car to the dealer. I prefer to do it at home because with the new engine, I never have to go under the car, the oil filter is on the top of the engine. The whole process only take less than 30 minutes on a Saturday. I do it right and only me to blame if something done wrong.

The 3.0L turbo needs correct oil, so I bought the correct oil Mobil 1, ESP-X2 0W-20 from Autozone when it’s on sale with STP oil filter S45005XL that fits perfectly to our engine. When the coolant needs to be top up, I bough VW/Audi G013A8JM1 coolant.

The 3.0L turbo doesn’t burn oil, at every 10k miles, it burned about 1 quart or less. It’s still above the min mark.

1. Remove the engine cover, 2 snap-on front and 2 rear.

2. Use Oil extractor MV7400 that works well for many years now.

3. Unplug the oil dipstick tub plug with a hook carefully not to lose it or break it.

4. Slide the small tub to the bottom of the engine oil pan, not to force too much.

5. Start pumping oil extractor for the oil to come out.

6. Remove the oil filter from the housing with 32mm socket, don’t over tighten when replace the oil filter.

7. When 6.5L of oil is out, remove the hose and plug the tub with the plug. Fill up the oil with 7 quarts only. Check the oil after running engine for a few minutes, wait for 2 minutes and check, it should be needing .5-.8 quart more, if not, the oil extractor didn’t get out all the oil.

8. When done, reset the service interval.
