We’re trying to have a vacation in a beach resort for the kids every summer, and this year, we tried Gran Melia Cancun, Mexico. After reading tons of reviews on the net, good and bad, we decided to explore Gran Melia this year. We’re always prepared everything to ensure to have a nice vacation. We booked all inclusive package (including transportation from Cancun Airport to Hotel and back) through Expedia, we did try other travel agencies, but Expedia has always been great for us, prices and services. Bestday picked us up at the Cancun Airport and took us to Gran Melia and then schedule to pick us up the day we leave, perfect timing and services.

Gran Melia does have NON-inclusive prices (European package), but if we don’t book all inclusive in advanced and change our minds when we get there, it’s very costly like our friends did. They’re charged full price for all inclusive.

The weather forecast was so bad that we didn’t even feel like to go, every day was supposed to have thunder storm and rain.

We got off the airplane and the sky was sunny, we’re lucky for the whole week.

The Gran Melia Hotel

There weren’t many people checking in on Weds, we’re in and out very quickly, the hotel lobby is beautiful.

The room we got has lagoon view which can be upgraded to ocean view for $35 per night, but we like the sunset view more than sunrise view because we would never wake up early to see it or plan to stay on our balcony to look at the ocean view much, we want to be at the ocean or the pool all day.

We have free wifi account but the system is a little biased, to be able to use wifi INSIDE the room, we need a RedLevel account which we don’t have, if we want to use the internet INSIDE the room, we need an ethernet cable which we didn’t bring, but we can take the laptop to any common area to connect wifi with the account we have (bottom line is there are 2 wifi systems in the hotel). So bring an RJ45 ethernet cable if anyone wants to use inside the room.

We emailed the concierge desk a few days before we arrived to book for us some dinning restaurants and Nayeli Castillo booked 1 day for us at the Ku-Nah Mexican restaurant which is nice.

We’re tired when we arrived, we rest a little then hit the buffet, the buffet lay out is very nice, abundant of dishes, but we didn’t like most of them, we thought we would have a bad stay with this hotel because our criteria for vacation: nice beach, warm pool, great food, drinks, quiet and comfortable room to sleep.
