My HP Envy 4-1117nr has the Ralink 3290 Wifi and bluetooth that are not supported by Mac OSX Mavericks, I bought a HP module from Ebay for $10 AR9285 and AR301 bluetooth combo to replace the Ralink. HP has white list in the bios, luckily this HP bluetooth wifi combo is supported and the bios detected as Medoc (Atheros) Half Mini Card and both Windows 8.1 and Mavericks work. The procedure should work for all Envy 4’s (4-1130us)

respected sir,
when i googled i found a lot of them on ebay but on most of them in product specification it is mentioned that it will not work on hp ibm laptops. My laptop is same as yours its hp envy 4 and also i have a doubt that do i need to modify the bios for replacing the wifi bcz of wifi whitelist and plz help me i am new bee on this and one more thing how to control the brightness of the screen and also volume adjusting with the hardware key these are not working in my hackintosh and i thick u may plz help me in this
Make sure the part say HP part and not some other companies and it should work. I bought 3 of them already.
I believe all recent HP laptops, ivy bridge and newer, not longer respect whitelist. They should work any generic wlan card.
Older models however do NOT boot with a non-certified card.
