Before we jump the gun and buy the Mountain Lion to upgrade because people are talking about it so much, we should read the reviews and the features first. To me, I’ve been using ML for over a month now and I think it’s good, but there will be things I can’t use because Mountain Lion seems to NOT support legacy software and hardware.
1. DVD player won’t play, but VLC and other video programs do.
2. New Quick time won’t play AVI, even with Perian plugin, the old quick time will.
3. Strictly 64bit.
4. I don’t have my screen resolutions on the menu bar to switch resolutions on the fly any more.
5. If you happen NOT to like Mountain Lion, I haven’t found the perfect way to reverse the upgrade, you may have to re-format the drive to re-install Lion or Snow Leopard 10.6.8
I like the new messages, icloud, screen capture @1080p, and some other features, but 10.7.4 already has most of them.
I know we can upgrade from Lion to Mountain Lion painlessly without losing any data, but I haven’t tried doing the other way.
